The MapWindow Project has evolved over the years to include a number of useful end user and programmer tools. This WIKI site (http://www.mapwindow.org/apps/wiki) is intended specifically for documenting our end user applications. Documentation, source code, and discussion forums for each of the projects are available at their respective web sites. Here is a brief list with appropriate links.
MapWindow 4.x Desktop - This is our flagship end user desktop application. The current release of MapWindow 4 can be found on the
http://www.MapWindow.org download page. MapWindow 4 continues to grow in functionality with it's core component as the MapWinGIS ActiveX component (described below).
MapWindow 6 Alpha - This is a very lightweight GIS viewer desktop application built upon the DotSpatial components (described below). The product is currently under development at
http://mapwindow6.codeplex.com.
HydroDesktop - This is a hydrologic data download and analysis software tool developed on DotSpatial and used for viewing hydrologic data and conducting modeling in the OpenMI environment. HydroDesktop development can be followed at
http://hydrodesktop.codeplex.com.
MapWinGIS ActiveX Control - This is the programmer library at the core of the MapWindow 4 desktop application. Development of MapWinGIS.ocx is (including documentation, discussion forums, and source code) is available at
http://mapwingis.codeplex.com.
DotSpatial GIS Programmer Library - This project is a collaboration of a number of .NET based GIS libraries with the goal of providing a consistent set of .NET programming tools for working with spatial data and building GIS enabled software (including a .NET map component, reprojection library, data library, plugin interface, etc.) DotSpatial is developed at
http://dotspatial.codeplex.com.
