Can anyone help?

Johann,

The-bit version is quite old, it's better to use the latest RC2. For now it is for 32-bit only because I'm having trouble compiling the ocx for x64.

The shape2earth plug-in is not maintained by the MW developers team and we don't have the source code. So we cannot help you with that.
You might try to contact the original developer.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul

Thanks for this feedback. Where can I download the latest RC2? Or is the copy I installed ok to use?

its a pity about the shape2earth plug-in, but I will contact the original developer to see if he/they have a solution.

I'm quite impressed by the way, with Map Window, so well done on a nice GIS program, with alot of potential! I've only used QGIS once and it wasnt that good.

Best Regards,
Johann

Hi Paul

I managed to sort things out. I actually already downloaded the RC2 version. With Windows 7 64-bit you sometimes have to use Virtual XP, and install 32-bit programs within the Virtual XP to get it to work. So I tried this method but Map Window didnt want to launch, giving an error.

But I did not try and run the Map Window installer using the 'compatibility mode'. Right-clicked on the installer file, specified it to run in Windows XP Service pack2 mode, and it installed fine! I also did the same when installing shape2earth, which also now works fine!

Thought i'd mention this incase anyone else has issues within Windows 7 64-bit.

Regards
Johann

I'm running the 32-bit version of MapWindow on my Win7 64-bit in 'normal' mode without any issues.

But thanks for the tips.
