Paul (and also Skea),
I downloaded this installer on a XP and WIN 7.
in both of them the balloon identifier works very well; it is quite useful for my purposes.
There remains a problem with the Document Launcher plug-in. Initially it did'nt work of XP; then I pasted the "cs" folder from the Plug-in folder of the 4.7 installer on the Plug.in folder of the last release, and it was ok; so i can open at the same time the Document Launcher, the Balloon Identifier and the Photo Viewer: excellent.
But this "trick" doesn't work on the Win 7. Perhaps it is necessary to modificate the "DocLauncher.resources.dll", i guess.
thank you for your work so precious for me.

hi Paul,
just a little information, if it can be useful.
Now that i used for a while the new installer, it seems rather slowier than before when I pan or zoom raster-layers, both in XP Win and Win 7.

Sandro,

Can you explain a bit more about the cs folder. If it is missing I need to update the installer script. Which files are in that cs folder?

I have some virtual machines with older versions of MW, can you provide some of your sample data and I will do a performance test on all MW version I have?

You can send those files to bontepaarden[AT]gmailD0Tcom and refer to this post?

Thanks,

Paul

We've just release the Beta Version of July.

It is available at MapWindowx86Full-v48Beta-installer.exe

The supporting libraries (like GDAL, GEOS) have been updated to their latest versions.
A lot of new enhancements have been added to the ocx, like image grouping, image overviews (pyramids), symbology (charts and coloring), use of the rotation values in world files.
Not all new features made it yet to the Desktop, but we're working on that.
The features are available to you for your plug-in or script development or when you develop a custom application using the ocx.

We try to keep up with all the new feature by making test scripts for them. You can find those at TestingScripts

Early September we will release the August Beta version and early November we'll release a new release candidate (RC2). This will include all new features in the ocx as well as in the Desktop version. Also the new features will be documented at that time.

After RC2 no new features will be added so we can concentrate on the open bugs. A new stable version (v4.8SR) will be released around new year.

So it is vital you all install a copy of this new beta version and let us know if you find any bugs.
You can report them in Mantis, our issue tracker.

Thanks,

Paul

hello
i have just downloaded the new installer, but I noticed that, after uploading a shapefile, the "properties-coloring scheme-unique values" function doesn't work.

Sandro,

Thanks for reporting this.
Can you also report this to Mantis?

Sergei is working very hard on the new symbology and label features and that might break to old code for now.

Thanks,

Paul

Because Sergei is working on the symbology he made a #define in the header file of mapwingis (ocx).
Somehow I forgot the enable it so MW would use the old style symbology when building the latest Beta.

With the next weekly build on Sunday this will be fixed. You can then just download the ocx from MapWindow4Dev/Bin/ and overwrite your current one.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

sorry for the stupid question.
Mantis sent me an e-mail and wrote that the bug about properties-colouring scheme have been repaired. What have i to do now? Just re-upload MWG on my computer and check if it is all OK or anything else?

Hi
I downloaded the last installer and the latest patch. The bug about colouring scheme is resolved. the program works much better than before in resizing raster immagines (the "bottleneck").
I am quite happy for these improvements.
I noticed that the buffer plug-in works on point and polyline shapefiles, but non on poligon shapefiles.
I attach the report about it.
thanks in advance

Sandro,

Looking at the error report it seems you're using MapWinGeoProc.NTS_Adapter
That library is out-dated and known for its problems and errors.

Try using the buffer method of the shape object:
shp.Buffer()
It uses the GEOS library, is much more accurate and much faster.
In the near future the old MapWinGeoProc methods will be rewritten using these GEOS methods.

I hope it helps.

Thanks,

Paul
