Hello,

I’m new to MW, but have been using ESRI products over the last few years. Using the MW desktop 4.7.5 “create new shapefile” tool, I have created a shapefile of lines.

I’m having trouble viewing the coordinates for the individual lines when using the “attribute table editor”. Also, the layer properties do not seem to indicate the type of features stored in the shapefile. Obviously, I know they are lines, and I can copy the selected shape to the clip board to view the attributes I want to see. As I head down the road with MW, I think it would be easier to be able to display these within the tool.

Is there an easy way to view the shape coordinates and feature types using the desktop tool?

Do you mean you want to coordinates of the lines as attributes in the table?
That is not (yet) possible.
How would you like to have that. Fill all coordinates in on field or create new fields for every coordinate: x1, y1, x2, y2, x3, y3, ... xn, yn?

And what do you mean by feature types? Lines, points and polygons?

You can make two enhancement requests about this in Mantis, our issue tracker.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I did mean that I'd like to see the coordinates of the points, lines, and polygons as attributes in the table. Actually, mostly this is useful for point data. When I said "feature type" I was refering the type of geometry stored in the shapefile (point, line, polygon).

Thank you for the information on where to ask for enhancements.

Dave is about to start with redesigning the table editor.
It would be good if you would submit your enhancement request so he can try to implement that as well.
