HI,
IS THE MAP WINDOWS VERSION 4.8.0.0 FOR 64 BIT MACHINES?
I´M HAVING TROUBLE TRYING TO MAKE THE SPATIAL CONVERTER WORK.
APPARENTLY, IT STARTS WORKING BUT THEN THE PROGRAM JUST FREEZES.....
AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG?
I HAVE A SHAPEFILE ON SCREEN AND I'VE BEEN TRYING TO ADD SOME X-Y POINTS ON IT AND THEN LINKED THEM TO PICTURES.
IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO ACCOMPLISH THIS TASK?

Are you using the 64-bit version of MW or the 32-Bit?
Did you install the latest installers:
tinyurl.com/mwMonthly
tinyurl.com/mwMonthlyx64
Do you have a point shapefile and do you want to add some new points? If so you can use the shapefile editor for that.
How do you want to link pictures to it?
Thanks,
Paul

PAUL,
THANKS FOR YOUR ANSWER.
I´M USING WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE.
(I´D GUESS I HAVE THE 32 BIT MAPWINDOW VERSION; WHEN I LOOK THE "REG MAPWIN GIS" I SEE A "REGSVR32" NOTE).
SHOULD I UNINSTALLED THIS VERSION AND DOWNLOAD THE "MAP WINDOW 47SRA-X64-SETUP.EXE" (NOVEMBER 28, 2009) VERSION?
WHERE DO I GET THE LATEST INSTALLERS (TINYUR1)?
MY SHAPEFILE IS A "KML" FILE TRANSFORMED TO A SHAPEFILE. I´D GUESS IT IS A POLYGON SHAPEFILE. I WANT TO ADD SOME "X-Y" POINTS TO IT.
I WANT TO LINK PICTURES TO THE "X-Y" POINTS BY USING THE SPATIAL CONVERTER PLUG-IN.IS THIS POSSIBLE?
JOSE

ONCE THE LAST 64 BIT VERSION WAS INSTALLED I TESTED THE "SPATIAL CONVERTER" AND IT DIDN´T WORK.
WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE EXCEL FILE I GOT A MESSAGE SAYING THERE WAS AN ERROR IN THE PLUG IN.

Could you please turn off your caps-lock.
It is very annoying to read.
I've got several reports of users on Win7 with the spatial converter.
I've created a new version of the dll with a lot of logging.
Can you download this file: [svn.mapwindow.org] and overwrite your existing one. The dll should be somewhere in the plug-ins folder of MapWindow.
Next enable logging by starting MapWindow. Go to File --> Settings --> Application tab and look for debug file. Set a value for this setting.
Now do your conversion and send me the file you want to convert and the log file.
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,
I did what you suggested (downloading the spatial converter).
Then I added a location to the debug file (using the Application tab).
Still I get the same error message when trying to import the EXCEL file (open to load work sheet).
I´m attaching the file I wish to convert and also the EXCEL file.
Thanks,
Jose

Can you also attach the log file so I can see what is happening?
And you forgot to attach the .shx file.
Just to make sure. You want to create a shapefile from the xls file, right?
I see you use comma (,) in your X and Y coordinate values. Can you replace them with a dot (.) and try again?

Hi Paul,
Well, first of all, in my EXCEL version I don´t have commas but only dots on the coordinates values.
2. Yes, what I wish to do is to get a shapefile from an (xls) file (where the coordinate values are).
3. I can´t find the (shx) file.
4. I´m attaching the log file (the only one I´ve got).
Thanks,
Jose
