Hello,

I'm using mapwindow desktop on a windows 7 computer. I've just updated by running
MapWindowx86Full-v48Beta-installer although this problem existed intermittently in the previous version I was using as well. My problem is that when I start a new project by adding a geotiff file, and then I set the projection for the project in the project settings dialog it doesn't retain the projection. The steps I take are

Open settings from the file menu.
Set project units to meters.
Set the projection settings to the appropriate projection.
Set the use this projection box to "true"
Exit out of the settings dialog.
Notice that I still can't see the latitude and longitude.
Go back into the settings dialog and the projection information is gone.

Can anyone help?

Oops, I just realized that I over copied from the other question I posted the same day. As far as I can remember, this problem did not occur prior to my upgrading with the latest installer.

I just downloaded and installed the latest installer and I'm still having this problem. Any ideas?

This is a known issue.
We're working on a fix by using the DotSpatial.Projections library.
For now this is not yet implemented.

Hi, I came across this thread as I am having the same problem. Is there a work around for assigning a projection to a raster base map? Any help would be appreciated.

As a workaround you can look at the gdal library (www.gdal.org). I think using gdal_translate you can assign projections.
Just copy the exe from http://svn.mapwindow.org/svnroot/SupportLibraries/bin/Win32/ in your MapWindow folder with gdal18.dll and run the exe on the command prompt.
