MapWindow 4 - Desktop Application : MapWindow Discussion Forum
I tried to load a large image file into MapWindow 4.8.3, but it is not shown. The map view area hangs and does not show anything anymore. The image file is a 57MB Windows Bitmap, 24bpp. It's 58241x512 pixels in size. Smaller image files load perfectly. Is 87MB the limit for MW?
size limit images exceeded?

We use several image files and formats over 80MB in our tests without any trouble.
We even have an Erdas image of almost 200MB.
But I believe a 58214*512 pixel image is in memory over 220MB.
It might be wiser to create a pyramid GeoTiff of your file. That will at least increase the load speed and might solve your problem.

Thanks for your reply Paul. Is suspect there something wrong because when I monitor the mapwindow.exe process in the taskmanager while adding the image nothing changes in memory or cpu. Maybe there is something wrong in the file header of the bitmap. I'll investigate this further.
