Hi all,

I'm trying to prepare an installation with Spanish as the default language.
Is there a way to do this in program configuration files or is necessary to recompile the application?

Do you want to have the application in Spanish or the installation.

MapWindow is already available in Spanish. The settings are maintained in the users projectfile. I think the default language is the language of Windows.

Do you want to install MapWindow or have you build a custom application?
MapWindow is already translated to Spanish, so you don't need to do anything.
In the Application properties (File -> Settings -> second tab) you can set the language. You could change that setting in the mwprj file MapWindow is installing so you know your users start in Spanish.

If you want to install your custom application, you need first translate that application and set the Localizable to True and the language to Spanish for every form you've created.

Please provide some more info about what you want to do.

I can't find the way to specify the Spanish in the mwprj file. Can you help me? do you have an example?

In my application data folder, in my case C:\Documents and Settings\Paul\Application Data\MapWindow I've got a file called mwLanguage.config
This file contains:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<mwLanguageSettings>
  <Culture OverrideSystemLocale="False" Locale="nl-NL" />
</mwLanguageSettings>

I think you need to replace Locale="nl-NL" with Locale="es-ES" and add this file to your installation.

Does this make any sense? I'm not that good with installers ;)

Thanks for the answer, that works well for your user or the user who perform the installation, Paul in your case, I'm trying to custom the application for every user, always.
I thought that it could be achieved in the mapconfig file delivered on the installation or something like that. Perhaps I must recompile the app?
