I'm trying again to set up a weekly build of all binaries, but I want to discuss which version of Visual Studio to use for it.
I've got VS2005 and VS2008. The current solution is for VS2005 even the new solution for 64Bit is still for VS2005.
I know some of the custom plugins, like mine, need VS2008 (.NET3.5) to compile.
I don't like the idea of added another solution and projects specially for VS2008.
I did that and my '2008' solution was out of synch with the current one so it missed files.
Do we really need a VS2005 solution or is it just because the core builders like Dan Ames and Chris Michaelis don't have a copy of VS2008?
So I want to suggest to convert the solutions to VS2008 for the MWv4.7+ versions.
If we stay with VS2005 I will create another VMWare but with VS2005 this time.
I hope to get a lot of response.
Thanks,
Paul

I'm good with moving everything to 2008. In fact, I think the MW6 project is all 2008. - Dan

Paul,
I'd also be fine with moving to 2008. I do have the express editions of 2008, which work just fine. I think with the free express editions we probably won't have too many people upset with us if we go ahead and convert the solutions to the latest VS. Do we have any voices of dissent out there? Anybody have a reason not to do this and wave goodbye to 2005?
Thanks!

Chris, I have not heard anybody who is against it.
I'll move on and convert the solutions and project files to VS2008 and commit them to SVN.
I also want to know where to send the weekly builds to.
To a separate folder called 'WeeklyBuilds' or to the default bin folder.
I started compiling them to a separate folder but I now think it is best to compile to the 'normal' bin folder.
If all goes well I'll try to commit my weekly builds this Friday (Amsterdam Time) and keep it going every Friday.
Thanks,
Paul

I've started with converting and compiling all solutions to VS2008.
Some of them I've already committed but MapWinGIS is giving me an error and won't compile.
I'm not familiar with C++ so I have no idea how to solve it.
This is the error:
I hope someone can help me with this one.
I'm also getting 425 warnings, don't know if that's good. It isn't a problem for compiling but warnings could create problems.
Thanks,
Paul
