Hi there,
i'm having troubles building the the vb application ..
first, i got the latest version of the mapWinGIS ocx ,successfuly registered it and wrapped it in a com wrapper .
now i added a reference to the mapWinGIS.dll and interop.MapWinGIS.dll witch both refer to the same namesapce : MapWinGIS and here comes the problem , i'm getting error messages indicate ambiguity in MapWinGIS namespace.
i can't remove one of the two references since once i did different errors occur saying that the reference is needed!!
any idea about how to resolve this issue?

note:
i'm using vs2008 under windows vista
thanks in advance

First: Which vb application are you using? I assume a VB.NET sample project?

I would think either one of the mentioned dlls in needed.
What message about ambiguity are you getting?
And what messages are you getting when you only reference interop.MapWinGIS.dll?

The application i'm trying to build is MapWindow Application .

Some of the ambiguity error messages i'm getting are :
'GridColorScheme' is ambiguous in the namespace 'MapWinGIS'.
'Extents' is ambiguous in the namespace 'MapWinGIS'.
'Shapefile' is ambiguous in the namespace 'MapWinGIS'.
'tkLockMode' is ambiguous in the namespace 'MapWinGIS'.

and many others for different attributes.

now, when i remove the the reference to MapWinGIS.dll , i get:
Reference required to assembly 'MapWinGIS, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' containing the type 'MapWinGIS.tkDrawReferenceList'. Add one to your project.

for almost every attribute.
the same when i refer to the MapWinGIS.dll and remobe the reference to interop.MapWinGIS.dll:

Reference required to assembly 'Interop.MapWinGIS, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' containing the type 'MapWinGIS.tkDrawReferenceList'. Add one to your project.

You mention referencing MapWinGIS.dll... Make sure it's actually MapWinGIS.ocx. If you download the subversion repository to MapWindow4Dev and register the ocx in the bin folder then you should be able to just compile immediately. Is that not working? - Dan

Hi Dan,
i tried for the last time to download mapWinGIS Source code with the the subversion repository ,and this time it went ok and i could rebuild the project!!
actually i decided earlier to assemble the binaries by hand after about ten times of failure with the repository because of my dying internet connection.
but this time it was completed successfuly except for some resources which are not subtle.
i'm working on translating mapWinGIS into arabic and i think i will post my questions in the related forum if i have any since it's pretty easy as it seems in the guide..thanks for the help
