Playground
This is a page you're free to edit simply to play and learn.
Here, you can freely edit existing pages, create new pages, or delete pages - please don't delete this page itself.
Feel free to experiment and learn to work with the MediaWiki system. Once you feel confident, you're welcome to edit the rest of the Wiki pages as well. Any page that has the "Edit" tab on it can be edited (i.e., the main entry page has no edit tab).
Quick How-To
How to Edit
You should see small tabs above this window of text. These include Article, Discussion, Edit, History, etc. Just click the Edit tab.
How to Make New Pages
Simply link to them, and save your changes. Once you view the new page, click on the link you just created - you'll immediately go into edit mode, since the page doesn't yet exist.
How to Delete Pages
Just remove all links to it! The system will automatically detect this situation and move the page to the "Archived" database for storage.
How to Link to Other Pages
1. Is this a link within the same wiki? (use this method also to create new pages)
Use the format: target or: label if you want the display text to be different than the link name. Please use very specific link target names, not simple words that are easily duplicable. One common and useful syntax is to use a colon to separate modules, e.g. GISTools:Faq.
2. Is this link outside of the wiki?
Just enter the address, including the http part. An example: http://www.google.com
How to Add Images
Use the format: filename.jpg Then save your page. When you view the page, you'll see the text displayed as if it were a standard link - click the link and you'll be taken to a file upload screen where you may upload the image file. Subsequent views of the page will show the image rather than the link. Please use meaningful filenames.
How to Use Formatting
1. Boxed content: If you want to place a box around your content, such as the example below, simply put two spaces before each line you want in the box.
This is an example of boxed content.
2. Italics: If you want to make text italicized, surround it with two apostraphes (the ' symbols).
This is italic.
3. Bold: If you want to make text bold, surround it with three apostraphes (the ' symbols).
This is bold.
4. Bold and Italics: Combine numbers 2 and 3 above, that is, use five apostraphes on either side of the text to be both bolded and italicized.
This is bolded and italicized.
